Telnet services on the appliance are Telnet handlers. They are available for compatibility with earlier versions. A Telnet handler supports client-initiated access to the CLI. Telnet is an unsecure protocol and should be used with extreme caution. Telnet should be enabled only on the trusted management port or on a secure network segment. To ensure an encrypted connection and verify the cryptographic authenticity of the server, SSH is a more secure choice.
