At a given end of a 1+1 Hot Standby configuration, the CMU configured as Primary is the preferred unit to take the Active role. If the Primary Recovery attribute is set to Enabled at a given end, a protection switch back to the preferred Primary CMU / RFU will occur autonomously if it has stayed free of faults for a configurable period of time determined by the Primary Recovery Period.
