Object
column SNMPv2-SMICounter64
The value of tFwdEngDRIpv4InvalidAddress indicates the total number of packets dropped by forwarding engine due to an error in source (SA) or destination (DA) IPv4 address. Some examples include class D or class E IPv4 DAs, loopback SA (127.0.0.0/8), 0.0.0.0/8 DA, SA is a subnet broadcast or network address, and non-IP traffic arriving on an IP interface that is not a valid L2 protocol for that interface (valid protocols may include ARP, ISIS and PPP control), and cases where the IPv4 address is a multicast address but the ethernet destination address is not RFC1112 compliant. RFC1112 checks are also carried out on IPIPE traffic.
