When enabled, the laser is on regardless of whether
there is a trunc signal present or not.
              
disabled - the laser is only on when there is a
          trunc signal.
              
enabled  - the laser is always on. This is intended
          to be used at installation to generate
          light on the client side for the QMR board
          to verify the connectivity.
