There may be up to 8,000 entries. Rules with 255.255.255.255 for both masks are accessed quickly; other rules are accessed less quickly. When adding a rule, at least one field must be specified, since there are defval clauses for most of the other fields (the fields without defval clauses will be obtained from the key itself).
