When this variable is written, the ES/1 converts it into a big-endian FDDI address and issues an SMT NIF request to determine that address's upstream neighbor. When the NIF response is received, snmpsmtUpstreamRsp will hold the address of the upstream neighbor and a trap will be sent to the NMS.
