multilink frame relay sequence number length (short = 12 bits ; long = 24 bits.24 bit sequence space increases MFR header by 2 more bytes, but in those situations where the differential delay is high ( > 50 ms ), larger sequence numbers help reduce packet drops that can happen when short sequence numbers complete a cycle quickly.
