The integer is a bit encoded version of which errors to include
in the error sum.  The bits are encoded as follows:
          
       CRCErrors       -  Bit 0 - Least Significant Bit
       runts           -  Bit 1
       OOWColls        -  Bit 2
       alignErrs       -  Bit 3
       NoResource      -  Bit 4
       Giants          -  Bit 5
