The timeout timer in seconds governs the validity of a route. It is initialized when a route is established, and any time an update message is received for the route. If the setting time elapses from the last time the timeout was initialized, the route is considered to have expired, and the hop count of the route is set to infinite. It should be at least three times the value of the update timer.
