o brrp - monitoring via the Bintec Router Redundancy Protocol
         which is a derivate of the popular VRRP (RFC 2338).
o ifstat - the interface operation status is monitored.
o ping - the reachablity is monitored via ICMP echo requests.
              
The default value is 'brrp'.
